While there are many dog breeds that have noticeable differences between males and females, both Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Miniature Poodles are breeds that have only minor differences between the sexes. Like their parent breeds, male and female Cavapoos are not very different from each other.
One difference that you may notice is their appearance. Male Cavapoos may be slightly larger or more muscular than females. They may also have broader heads and a more pronounced jawline. A female Cavapoo may be smaller, lighter or have slightly more delicate facial features. However, many times males and females are almost indistinguishable from each other.
In personality, we find that there is more difference due to the individual dogs and environment than due to differences between the genders. That being said, if we were to generalize, male Cavapoos tend to love everyone and females may tend to be a bit more selective or settle on one person to devote themselves to. Both genders are friendly, gentle, social dogs. Some are more shy and some are more outgoing. Socialization is important regardless of the gender of your puppy to introduce them to new people and situations.
Whether you settle on a male or female Cavapoo, giving them lots of your time, patience, and affection will ensure a happy and well-adjusted dog.
